07 Mar Global Credit Card Creation Costs
At a time when most payment industry eyes are focused on immediate credit card supply challenges, Juniper Research has just released the results of an interesting study that looks beyond our current chip shortages into the near-term future of credit card demand.
The study projects that global credit card creation costs will increase 20% over the next 5 years from $9.7B this year to $11.7B in 2026. Juniper attributes much of this jump to the widespread addition of biometric security along with a massive increase in metal card issuing.
These increased costs will undoubtedly be handed down to cardholders, perhaps in the form of higher annual fees. #creditcards #supplydemand #biometrics #metalcreditcards
